AllOutdoor Overview – Plano GoNow Boxes – Small
You would think with all the outdoor gear on the market you could put your hands on a storage box that is as organized and rugged as it is easy to get at in a hurry, but it is not always that simple. Plano has set out to fix that with their new GoNow Boxes, a modular system designed for the likes of hunters, shooters, anglers and travelers. I have had two of the Small (30L) models for a few months to see what they can do. An OD Green and a Gray and they have been my go to for stowing ammo, gun parts and travel kit.

Design and Construction

The GoNow Small has a reinforced shell for strength without making the box unwieldy when you have to carry it full. The walls are thick enough to stand up to impact in transit but do not add unnecessary heft. Running around the edge of the lid is the DrI-Loc seal which should keep out any moisture or dust under normal circumstances. And with the non-skid rubber feet on the bottom, the box stays put whether it is on a garage shelf or the floor of your vehicle.

You can also secure the box down in a truck, boat or ATV thanks to the molded-in tie-downs on the exterior. The QUICKLINK system is a set of standardized points for adding on other Plano gear like MOLLE panels or brackets if you want to build out your setup.
Lid and Access

What sets the GoNow series apart is the DUALHINGE lid. It gives you the option to hinge it from the long or short side of the box as your storage situation dictates, or remove the lid entirely for unobstructed access. The latches are heavy duty and you can put a padlock on for peace of mind while in transit.
Interior Organization

The layout is meant to be configurable. There is a large removable divider to put some distance between your bigger items, and on top of that you have a drop-in tray with dividers you can adjust for the smaller stuff like scope mounts, pins, screws or ammo boxes. The smooth interior is easy to wipe down after you have been handling outdoor equipment or ammunition.
Usage Applications

Most people use these for shooting gear. I might put one aside for ammo and use the dividers to sort by caliber, or pack it with optics, tools and cleaning supplies for a day at the range. The fact that they are dust and waterproof makes them ideal for the back of a vehicle. They are compact and stackable so they don’t hog space in a trunk. Outdoorsmen will often put first aid kits or electronics in them for protection. In the garage or closet, you can put several of them together to form a vertical tower; the uniform sizing and attachment points make for a tidy solution. One feature that took me by surprise was the integrated rifle rack that can be clipped into the storage rack. A super cool idea if you are in a tough spot and need to work on your gun for some reason.
Practical Considerations

At 30L the Small is a good compromise as it holds plenty of gear yet one person can still manage it. The polypropylene will resist chemicals like solvents or lubricants you may be storing. That said, for the sake of longevity, you should be mindful of extreme temperatures or very heavy point loads even if the box is rugged. In short, the Plano GoNow Small is a reliable way to organize your outdoor and shooting equipment for transport or storage, fitting right into the rest of the modular lineup. I have been impressed with them and how modular they are. Plano alos makes a large size of the GoNow Box, and that has my intrest peaked after using the smalls.
