A Word from Moultrie on the NEW Edge 4 Cellular Trail Camera

Birmingham, Alabama – Moultrie, the leading innovator of feeders, trail cameras, and game management tools, today introduced the EDGE 4 series. The first cellular trail camera line built to recognize your target buck and fire a max-resolution cropped image to your phone, before you ever set foot in the woods. The EDGE 4 is waterproof, has enhanced night clarity, and all-season power options built for every piece of ground you hunt, from pre-season scouting through the late-season grind.

“The new Moultrie EDGE 4 picks up the best cell signal and with the solar panel on there, this thing is going to run all year long,” said Steven Rinella, MeatEater Host and Founder. “You can put it up and you don’t need to go to that place and disturb that area in order to see what’s going on. It’s just going to send you images.”

What’s the Upsell to the Moultrie Edge 4 Cellular Trail Camera?

So, what sets this cellular trail camera apart from prior ones that Moultrie has produced in the past, or even their competitors?… There are a lot of reasons why I – and most of our staff here at AllOutdoor – are running Moultrie trail cameras, but the biggest upsell to the new Moultrie Edge 4 is the 21st century tech they imbued these with.

  • NEW! Buck Shot – Max resolution when it matters most. Moultrie AI detects a big buck and sends a zoomed-in, max-resolution image, so you can count every antler tine.
  • NEW! Waterproof – Rain doesn’t cancel your hunt. It doesn’t stop EDGE 4, either. IP67 waterproofing keeps your camera capturing and sending through downpours and temporary floods. Season after season.
  • NEW! Night Clarity – Darkness, solved. Enhanced IR LEDs illuminate the scene evenly, edge to edge.
  • NEW! Moultrie Connect – Skip the feeder maintenance trip. EDGE 4 connects to compatible Moultrie feeders via Bluetooth, so you can check feed levels, update settings, and dispense on demand from anywhere, straight from the Moultrie App. [Camera subscription required.]
  • NEW! Integrated Solar Capability – EDGE 4 is compatible with Moultrie’s new solar attachment, converting any EDGE 4 into an integrated solar camera with optimized recharge efficiency and no external power cables. Solar attachment sold separately.

Field Use – Moultrie Edge 4 Cellular Trail Camera

So, how did the Moultrie Edge 4 cellular trail camera perform out in the field?… I’ll let the photos do the talking. The first pictured it captured might be my favorite one all year because it was my wife and son going for a leisurely four-wheeler ride on one of our trails through the forest.

That same day on that same trail only a few hours later, I had a doe with her fawn walk down our forest trail heading to our small, but important creek on our property.

This trail that I identified on my property I soon learned is a safe passageway for does with their fawns because I have not seen any bucks yet, and that’s OK. I always welcome does and fawns because they eventually draw in bucks to the property later in fall, and it is a good sign of a healthy whitetail deer herd.

Finally, I got my first appearance of a sneaky buck working along this trail and headed to the creek. I am hoping to see more and more bucks utilizing this trail the later into the year that we get, and the closer we get to the rut.

Throughout the summer I continued to see more does and fawns. This specific location I knew wouldn’t be a high traffic area, but I am playing the long game. Having put out this camera in June, I believe that by the time the rut and November rolls around, that this will be a very busy and popular spot that I won’t want to disturb. So, getting a camera out early and leaving it along was my ideal situation.

Final Thoughts

So, what are my final thoughts on the Moultrie Edge 4 cellular trail camera after several months of use?… Overall, this camera performed exactly as advertised. It has a great battery life, I haven’t gotten much of any false triggers (pictures of the wind blowing on grass or leaves), the connection has been great, and the images themselves are the best resolution that I have gotten from Moultrie yet. I fail to find any authentic complaints about this cellular trail camera. It has done everything that I have asked of it, and performed really well. If anyone is in need of another cellular trail camera leading into hunting season, I can sincerely endorse the new Moultrie Edge 4.

In closing, I want to say thank you to Moultrie Mobile for allowing AllOutdoor and myself the opportunity to try out their new Moultrie Edge 4 cellular trail camera. That is greatly appreciated. Also, we would like to know what all of you guys and gals think? Do you believe that the Moultrie Edge 4 cellular trail camera is something worth spending your money on?
