Installation & Setup – Tactacam Reveal Pro 4.0 Cellular Trail Camera
When it comes to installation and setup of your Tactacam Reveal Pro 4.0 cellular trail camera, Tactacam does a good job of making it as easy as possible. With this newest edition though, there are a couple quirks about the camera that had me confused at first. For one, your “operating area” – or where the navigation screen is located – is on the right-hand side, which is unlike any cellular trail camera that I have seen before.
To get the start-up process rolling, you will simply want to open the Tactacam Reveal app on your smart phone, scan the QR code located by the navigation screen, and a series of prompts will lead you through everything that you need to do.

The other element that is a bit odd about the Tactacam Reveal Pro 4.0 cellular trail camera is the battery pack, which slides off of the cellular trail camera. Like, slices off! The battery pack comprises 50% of the overall size of the trail camera.

You have the option of a rechargeable battery pack that you can slide (or slice) on and off as well as a battery tray that can be loaded up with 12 AA batteries if you want to go the traditional route.

Once you have followed the setup prompts, loaded the batteries, and situated your cellular trail camera where you want it to be, you should be all good to go!
Field Use – Tactacam Reveal Pro 4.0 Cellular Trail Camera
Now, time to dive into the photo reel! I placed this cellular trail camera on a dried up creek near the furthest south end of our property. It is not often I make it to that point on my property because I’d have to traverse and scent up the whole property to get there (unless there is a southeast wind, which is very rare). So, stationing a trail camera there was the perfect spot. So, I wouldn’t have to disturb that area to know what is going on.

Some of the first recurring guests that I had was a family of raccoons. This wasn’t a surprise to me because with the amount of corn fields, cover, and wet areas our property holds, we have quite the burgeoning population of raccoons.

Also, where I situated this trail camera was right on a whitetail deer trail that crossed this now dried up creek. So, I anticipated seeing a lot of deer that I might not otherwise have been able to take a mental inventory of.

The longer I had this cellular trail camera up the more I hoped I would spot a “ghost buck” – or one that I was entirely unaware was on my property; they were hiding from me – and that is exactly what happened. I had this nice velvet 8- or 9-point buck show up (hard to be perfectly positive how many points in this photo).

Even when this buck returned it is difficult to see how many points he is in this picture as well. So, I am excited to see how this buck develops and comes out of velvet with hard-formed antlers.

I continue to see a lot of does and fawns, which I love to see. That is such a great sign of a healthy whitetail deer herd, and that we are creating a safe sanctuary for them to grow up in. Meaning, there aren’t a ton of predators around like foxes and coyotes as well as us not disturbing their areas they find safety in.

Final Thoughts
So, what are my final thoughts on the Tactacam Reveal Pro 4.0 cellular trail camera after several months of use?… Overall, this cellular trail camera has done it again. Tactacam continues to impress me with the quality of photos it takes, the batteries seem to last forever, and I never have outages – periods of no photos – due to poor cell service or anything wonky like that. So, kudos to Tactacam for making another great cellular trail camera. I’d absolutely recommend this one to anyone who is in need of another trail camera this fall.
In closing, I want to say thank you to Tactacam for allowing AllOutdoor and myself the opportunity to try out their new Tactacam Reveal Pro 4.0 cellular trail camera. That is greatly appreciated.
