Amtac Blades’ Minuteman II Slim Narrows Things Down For Your EDC
Amtac Blades owner Bill Rapier has trimmed down one of his most popular EDC fixed blades. The new Minuteman II Slim carries the same 4-inch full flat ground blade and MagnaCut steel as the standard-width Minuteman II, but the spine drops from 3/16 inch to 0.15 inch, and blade weight comes down from 4.7 ounces to 4.3 ounces. Not much of a weight difference, but a much slimmer profile for an already pretty slim blade series. The new slim blade keeps its swedge and full flat grind for field dressing and general camp use, and the 1.3-inch semi-sharp section of spine just ahead of the handle is still there for striking a ferro rod, which matters more in the backcountry than it does on a nightstand.

The Stonewashed Minuteman II Slim with full flat grind uses MagnaCut steel, the best in the industry. The Minuteman II Slim is slightly thinner than the Minuteman II, but the handle thickness remains the same, so it will fit all Minuteman II sheaths.
The Stonewashed Magnacut Minuteman II features a 4-inch full flat ground blade with a swedge. This blade geometry allows for great thrusting ability and strength. The 1.3 inches of spine directly forward of the handle has a semi-sharp 90° angle to facilitate better striking of a ferro rod and other backcountry tasks. The handle of the Minuteman is 3 3/4 inches long. The Stonewashed Minuteman II with full flat grind comes standard with a low profile belt sheath.
The handle length remains 3 3/4 inches, so the Slim drops into the same low-profile belt sheaths already sold for the Minuteman II, no need to buy a second sheath just to run the lighter blade. MagnaCut remains the draw here: it holds up to wet, gritty conditions better than most tool steels and shrugs off the kind of corrosion that ruins a blade left in a damp pack after a rainy sit. Amtac Blades says the Stonewashed MagnaCut Slim is in stock and shipping now, with the black stonewash finish going out first and a standard stonewash version to follow. For hunters who’ve been eyeing the Minuteman II but wanted less blade to carry, this is the version to watch.
