Most camo rifles get their pattern from a factory machine. The DB15 Swamp Stalker gets it from a stencil, a steady hand and a lot of patience. Diamondback Firearms built this 5.56 NATO rifle as a Sports South exclusive, and the finish is made of precision-cut stencils, hand-laid patterns and individually sprayed Cerakote layers. The idea is a rifle that stands out at the dealer counter and in the field. "The Swamp Stalker finish is built the right way," says Diamondback COO Alicia McCabe, and she adds that the attention-getting paint sits on top of the DB15 foundation.
That foundation is the DB15 Carbon platform, part of Diamondback's DB15 Extended Line, built in the USA in Cocoa, Florida. The forged 7075 T-6 aluminum lower is a DB15 Carbon lower, and the matching forged upper is a T-marked A3 flattop. Up front is a 16-inch 4150 CrMoV barrel with a 1:8 right-hand twist, Black Nitride finish and FDE Cerakote, running a carbine-length direct impingement gas system. A shot-peened, magnetic particle inspected mil-spec 8620 bolt carrier handles the cycling, and an A2 flash hider (1/2x28) sits on the muzzle.
The 15-inch M-LOK anti-rotation V4 S-Rail handguard carries full Picatinny and QD mounts, so accessories bolt straight on. The furniture comes from B5 Systems, with a P-Grip 23 in Multicam Black, a Multicam vertical grip and a Multicam Bravo stock. A standard mil-spec trigger finishes the fire control, and the rifle ships with no sights, so the buyer's choice of optic or backup irons goes on the rail.
Diamondback ships the Swamp Stalker complete. In the box are a Magpul PMAG 30-round magazine and a Savior Equipment Specialist single rifle case in OD Green. Savior makes some really good and surprisingly cost-effective bags, so I’m not surprised by the choice. Sports South's Director of Sales, Caden Smith, points to the combination of a strong finish story, a proven configuration and exclusive appeal as the selling points for dealers. The rifle weighs 6.5 pounds and measures 32 inches collapsed and 35.5 inches extended.
