Huk Brings New Grip-X Traction to Its First Flip Flop
Huk just launched its first flip flop line, called the Rogue Island, and it is built around the same Grip-X outsole technology that powers their Rogue Wave deck boots, a shoe that has sold to over one million anglers. The idea is straightforward: take traction that already works on slick boat decks and put it into something you can wear off the water without overthinking it.
The Grip-X outsole is the core of what makes this more than a standard flip flop. It features multi-directional traction and water-dispersing microchannels, the same setup found in the Rogue Wave boots, mapped specifically for wet concrete, marina docks, and rain-soaked surfaces. If you have spent any time on a slick deck or a wet ramp, you know why that actually matters in a sandal. The pre-sale sold out in three hours, which tells you demand was already there before anyone had a pair on their feet.

The Rogue Island Flip Flop is the main offering. Up top, a comfort-stretch strap moves with you while maintaining its shape wear after wear, delivering a secure fit that won’t break down. Underfoot, the Waveform footbed provides all-day cushioning and support. The toe post is built to hold up, not just get you from the truck to the water. It is available now at $85 in Grey, Mud, and KC Sharkskin Camo, with more colors coming early summer.
The $85 price point is worth addressing directly. That is real money for a flip flop. But this is not a gas station sandal. It is designed to function where cheaper footwear fails, and the Grip-X pedigree is proven. Whether that tradeoff makes sense depends on how seriously you take your time on the water.

Later this season, Huk will add the Rogue Summer Flip Flop at $45. Lighter build, same Grip-X foundation, aimed more at beach days and casual use than serious on-the-water duty. That price makes it a much easier entry point if you want to try the platform without committing to the flagship.
Both are available exclusively at huk.com.
