For anyone who carries, the lesson here is obvious. Anger and ego cannot be part of the decision. Getting told no at a counter is frustrating, and a carrier has to be able to swallow that frustration every time. A gun comes out to stop an imminent threat of death or serious bodily harm, and for nothing else.
Carrying means carrying the mindset to walk away from every argument that does not put your life at risk. If the clerk says no, you leave.
