Savage Arms Adds the REVEL Tactical to Its Rimfire Lever Lineup

By Sam.S •

When the REVEL first showed up in September 2024, it was a walnut-stocked, takedown rimfire lever gun in two flavors, the REVEL Classic and the REVEL DLX. Two years later, Savage Arms is adding a third model that trades the walnut for an MDT stock, a factory Picatinny rail, and a threaded muzzle. Meet the REVEL Tactical.

“The REVEL Tactical represents the next evolution of our REVEL platform, combining the timeless appeal of a lever-action rifle with the modern features today’s shooters demand,” said Beth Shimanski, Vice President of Marketing at Savage Arms.

The core of the rifle stays the same. It still uses the REVEL’s lever action and the same simple takedown, so the stock and lever assembly separate from the barreled receiver for cleaning or stowing in a pack. Everything bolted to that action is where things change. The MDT Tactical stock gets beefed-up grip touchpoints and a custom pistol grip, plus a clip-on cheek riser for adjusting comb height. That last part matters more than it sounds, since the one-piece Picatinny rail up top invites a scope or red dot that will sit higher than the iron sights.

Lever guns and suppressors get along well, and a rimfire lever with a threaded 18″ barrel is about as quiet a setup as you can put together for squirrels and range days. Savage pitches the rifle for exactly that mix of small-game hunting, plinking, and recreational shooting.

For context on pricing, the REVEL Classic in 22 WMR lists at $439, so the Tactical carries roughly a $200 premium for the MDT stock, rail, and threaded barrel. Savage hasn’t announced a ship date yet.

The tactical lever gun trend has mostly lived in centerfire calibers like .357 and .45-70, so seeing it move into rimfire was only a matter of time. With three chamberings and a threaded barrel from the factory, the REVEL Tactical gives suppressor owners a quiet, accessory-friendly small-game rifle without any aftermarket work.
