One of the most unique products on display at SHOT Show 2026 in Las Vegas was the FRT90 — a patent-pending forced reset trigger system designed specifically for the FN PS90 platform. Developed by Dorin Technologies and marketed through FN Specialties, the FRT90 (now officially known as the X-PRT 90) gives PS90 owners a legal, semi-automatic upgrade that dramatically changes how the iconic bullpup handles.

What Is the FRT90 (X-PRT 90) for the PS90?

The FRT90, officially branded as the X-PRT 90 (Cross Progressive Reset Trigger), is a drop-in fire control upgrade developed by Dorin Technologies for the FN PS90 bullpup carbine. It was unveiled to the public at SHOT Show 2026 in January.

The trigger replaces key factory fire control components and adds a dedicated reset component to enable a true 3-position selector:

- Safe (S): Mechanical safety blocks trigger movement

- Semi (1): Standard PS90 semi-automatic operation, identical to factory behavior

- Forced Reset (F): Progressive reset mode where pulling the trigger fully activates a rapid, reliable reset unlike the factory trigger

In Forced Reset mode, partial trigger pulls still operate as standard semi-automatic fire. Only a full trigger pull engages the forced reset mechanism, giving shooters precise control over when to use it.

Kit Contents and Build Quality

The X-PRT 90 kit is precision engineered for durability and performance. The complete kit includes:

- 17-4 stainless steel hammer and sear (direct replacement for factory parts)

- Hard anodized 6061 aluminum selector (direct replacement for factory selector)

- 17-4 stainless steel Forced Reset Component (FRC) - the key mechanical addition

- Installation jig for straightforward setup without specialized tools

The use of 17-4 stainless steel for critical fire control components ensures durability comparable to factory-grade parts while providing the additional mechanical functionality of the forced reset mode.
