Rugged Suppressors announced the Sub9 at SHOT Show 2026, a purpose-built 9mm suppressor engineered specifically for pistol caliber carbines and subguns. This isn't a pistol can pulling double duty. Rugged designed the Sub9 from scratch for high-volume PCC and SMG use. The Sub9 uses a coaxial chamber design to squeeze out maximum sound reduction while keeping length impressively short.

Durability matters here because Rugged built this for the kind of firing schedules that would turn lesser cans into paperweights. The Sub9 is full-auto rated and handles the heat that comes with forced-reset triggers and fast-cycling PCCs. I saw Rugged President Henry Graham pointed out that "with the rise of FRTs, shooters can fully take advantage of the durability Rugged Suppressors is known for."

The Sub9 ships with Rugged's new Universal 3 Lug Mount (RU3) that uses a taper lock instead of traditional spring-style systems. This gives stronger, more concentric lockup and works with all HK-spec 3-lug adapters on the market. The suppressor itself is HUB compatible with 1.375x24 threads, opening it up to direct-thread and quick-detach options across multiple mounting systems.

Rugged Sub9 Specs:

  • Length: 6.8" with RU3 mount, 6.6" without
  • Weight: 14.1 oz with mount, 11.9 oz without
  • Diameter: 1.73"
  • Construction: 17-4 stainless steel baffles and tube, titanium mount
  • Rated: 9mm, .300 BLK subsonic (8"+ barrel), .357 Mag, .38 Special, 350 Legend
  • Full-auto rated
  • Finish: Black high-temp Cerakote
  • Includes: RU3 3-lug mount, 9mm front cap, multi-tools, manual
  • MSRP: $950

The Sub9 is backed by Rugged's Unconditional Lifetime Warranty. At $950, it slots between budget PCC cans and premium options, banking on Rugged's reputation for durability and sound performance. The real test will be whether it delivers on the "quieter than Obsidian9" claim while handling sustained full-auto fire.

What do you guys and gals think? Is there room for a dedicated PCC can at $950, or are you better off with a modular pistol suppressor? Let us know your thoughts in the Comments below! We always appreciate your feedback.
