TFB Review: The EOTech EFLX-CE Sight

When it comes to the specs of the EFLX-CE, this optic does have a number of thought-out controls with multiple settings, as well as a number of dot configurations for your preferred sight picture. The EFLX-CE has 6 daytime settings with an ultra-bright setting for those sunny range sessions. EOTech also includes two nighttime settings for night vision as well, if you want to shoot with night vision devices. When it comes to dot configuration, EOTech gives users three settings: dot only, red circle, or red circle with a dot. These allow for different sight pictures depending on the user's preferred look.

Other features on the EFLX-CE that make life a bit easier are the top controls that allow for easy control, as well as a side-mounted battery so you do not have to take the optic off your pistol in order to change the battery. My example is a 3.25 MOA dot with 1 MOA adjustments. EOTech designed the EFLX-CE to be similar to their larger rifle holographic sights. As a result, there's a very large field of view with ample light collection as well. The EFLX-CE also comes with a shake-awake feature, allowing the optic to automatically turn on when a motion is detected. EOTech designed the EFLX-CE with an aluminium housing, allowing for sturdy construction. Every EFLX-CE also comes with iron backup sights in case you burn through the 25,000 hours of battery life and have to use them. MSRP on the EFLX-CE is $479.99 and EOTech is currently shipping this optic.

Range Time

So far, I have been using the EOTech EFLX-CE on the Wilson Combat Bulwark and I’ve put roughly 1,200 rounds through the gun and optic combo. One of the first things I noticed on the first range session was just how large the window was, which did allow for a ton of light collection and the optic was very easy to use even in direct sunshine. Personally, I really liked the dot and circle reticle combination. I mainly use the EXPS line of optics from EOTech on my rifles, so using a similar pistol reticle makes for a seamless transition.

During my testing, I did use the optic to rack the slide and the front of the EFLX-CE is textured to grab onto surfaces in order to rack the slide on a surface. Anything on a soft surface like wood really does well because the optic surface will certainly assist with a little more traction than if you just had a smooth surface like other enclosed emitters do. I really thought the top controls were easy to use even when you are looking through the optic. During my time shooting the EFLX-CE on the Wilson Combat Bulwark, I didn't experience any loosening of the optic and the optic held zero throughout my multiple range sessions. I had no oddities or flickering, which I’ve had with cheaper optics; the EFLX-CE was rock solid and a really tough optic throughout my testing.

Carrying The EFLX-CE

The closed emitter EFLX is slightly bulkier than the regular EFLX from EOTech, but I didn't truthfully notice a difference between the weight of either optic. The closed emitter does protect against lint or debris getting into the emitter, making the optic much more consistent and not starbursting, since that second glass section is protecting the emitter. I actually prefer these to the older style open emitters and will probably switch over to more of the closed styles in the future. Overall, it was really a well-performing optic.
