Okuma is back with the next generation of its flagship Makaira conventional reels with the new Okuma Makaira SEa Gold 2-Speed Lever Drag reel. The new Makaira SEa Gold is built upon the latest generation of the Makaira SEa platform to combine the proven big game performance with an iconic offshore reel finish. Built on a rigid 6061-T6 machined aluminum frame with forged side plates, this body holds oversized stainless steel gearing, a forged aluminum spool, and precision-machined internal components. This altogether delivers reliable cranking power and long-term performance in demanding offshore conditions. The drag system is Okuma’s Dual Force Drag system, which uses Carbonite drag washers and Cal’s drag grease to deliver smooth, consistent drag output and effective heat management during long battles with big fish.

The new Okuma Makaira SEa Gold 2-Speed Lever Drag Reels will be available through Okuma dealers in June 2026, with an MSRP range of $672.99 – $1,449.99, depending on the reel size. Each Makaira comes with a 5-year warranty from Okuma.
