Thompson/Center Launches the Encore ProHunter FireStick Muzzleloader

By Sam.S

Thompson/Center Arms just announced the Encore ProHunter FireStick, a .50 caliber muzzleloader that marries the long-running Encore break-open platform with the Federal FireStick ignition system. If you have been following the FireStick format, you already know the concept: encapsulated, pre-measured powder charges that eliminate loose powder handling and deliver consistent velocity shot to shot. T/C is now putting that system into one of the most trusted muzzleloader platforms in the market.

The Encore platform has been around long enough to prove itself. The break-open design with interchangeable barrels is a genuine practical advantage for hunters who want to run multiple calibers or configurations across different seasons without buying a whole new rifle. That flexibility is intact here, and the FireStick ignition builds on it by removing the main variable that makes traditional muzzleloading inconsistent: powder measurement and handling in the field.

The barrel is a 28-inch button-rifled stainless steel tube with a 1:24 twist and precision fluting, paired with the Quick Load Accurizor counterbored muzzle system for easier bullet seating at the muzzle. The Swing Hammer is patented and worth noting for optics users since the ambidextrous rotating hammer spur keeps access clean when a scope is mounted. The FlexTech recoil reduction system handles felt recoil through compression arches and energy burners built into the stock.

Specs:

  • Caliber: .50
  • Barrel: 28-inch fluted stainless steel, button-rifled
  • Twist rate: 1:24
  • Overall length: 42.5″
  • Weight: 8.25 lbs
  • Ignition: Federal FireStick system, encapsulated powder charges
  • Features: Quick Load Accurizor muzzle, Swing Hammer, FlexTech recoil reduction
  • Warranty: T/C Limited Lifetime Warranty
  • Part number: 6028R
  • MSRP: $1,150

At $1,150 it is positioned as a serious hunting tool rather than a budget entry into muzzleloading, and the feature set justifies that. The FireStick system in particular is going to appeal to hunters who want the challenge and tradition of muzzleloading season without the inconsistency that comes with loose powder in variable weather conditions.
