Trijicon has expanded its VCOG lineup with a new Flat Dark Earth (FDE) version of the VCOG 1-8x28 riflescope. The updated model features a Cerakote FIR-265 finish, designed to provide durability, corrosion resistance, and reduced visual and near-infrared signature in line with military specifications.

For those unaware, the VCOG 1-8x28 is a low-power variable optic (LPVO) built for a wide range of applications, from close-quarters engagements to longer-range shooting. It uses a first focal plane (FFP) reticle, allowing holdovers and subtensions to remain consistent across the entire magnification range. This design supports rapid target engagement at 1x while maintaining precision at higher magnification levels.

Constructed from forged 7075-T6 aluminum, the optic is built with an emphasis on durability. The housing is designed to withstand heavy recoil and harsh environmental conditions, with waterproof capability rated to 20 meters. Internally, the optic uses premium glass aimed at delivering clear image quality with minimal distortion.

The new FDE variant is offered in multiple configurations, including MOA, MRAD, and SCO (Squad Common Optic) reticles. These options are intended to support a variety of calibers, barrel lengths, and shooting applications, making the optic adaptable across different rifle setups.

Illumination is powered by a single AA battery, with up to 633 hours of runtime at medium settings. The LED reticle offers 11 brightness levels, including night vision-compatible and daylight settings. Controls are designed for practical use, with an integrated magnification lever to facilitate quick adjustments and near-constant eye relief to reduce the need for head repositioning.

Trijicon states that the VCOG series undergoes extensive durability testing, including recoil simulation, drop testing, and environmental exposure across a wide temperature range. The optic is also nitrogen-filled to prevent internal fogging.
