Heritage Manufacturing has expanded its Rough Rider single-action revolver line with a new centerfire chambering: .32 H&R Magnum. It's the first time the Rough Rider has stepped beyond .22 LR and .22 WMR since the platform launched, and it's a meaningful jump.
The new model ships with a 6.5-inch barrel, a full-steel alloy frame, cylinder and barrel all finished in black satin. It holds six rounds, weighs 35.6 ounces unloaded and measures 11.78 inches overall. Sights are fixed up front with a rear notch, and the action is single-action only with a manual safety.
The .32 H&R Magnum cartridge itself is worth understanding. It pushes a 100-grain bullet to around 1,100 fps from a longer barrel, producing roughly 270 ft-lbs of energy. That's notably more than .22 WMR and more than adequate for small game or casual plinking. Recoil is mild, making it a comfortable round to shoot all afternoon.
Functionally, this is a classic single-action revolver. You load one chamber at a time through the loading gate, manually cock the hammer before each shot, and eject spent casings one by one with the ejector rod. It slows you down in the best possible way. Every round is deliberate. There's no spray-and-pray here, just you, six shots and whatever you're pointing at. That's as close to the frontier as most of us will get, and for a lot of shooters, that's exactly the point.

The gun is made in the USA at Heritage's facility in Bainbridge, Georgia.
MSRP saddles in at $257.99, which keeps it squarely in budget-friendly territory even for the poorest of cowboys. Finding .32 H&R Magnum in the shops is probably going to be more of an issue.
