The revolver world is all about old-school materials and designs, right? Wrong. The world of wheelguns sees upgrades every year, and if you can’t find a revolver that has the modern features you want, then XS Sights wants to help. They’ve just announced new fiber-optic sights and a mounting plate for the Taurus 66 Combat model.
XS Sights Kits Out The Taurus 66 Revolver
XS Sights @ TFB:
Low-light performance
Despite the rapid advance of pistol-mounted optics, many shooters still prefer a standard front-and-rear sight setup for reliability or as a backup. There are no batteries to go dead with this setup, and some shooters might feel this arrangement is more rugged or easier to conceal. It certainly saves money.
XS Sights has made their name by offering fiber-optic sights to replace the standard irons on many handguns. They now turn their studious attention to the Taurus 66 Combat, with their tritium-powered Standard Dot sight in front. This sight has a tritium lamp surrounded by a green Glow Dot, making for a highly visible front sight that helps you get on target fast, even in dark conditions.
They offer fiber optic sights for the Taurus 66 as well, with a user-replaceable orange or green insert. With the fiber optic’s capability to pick up light and redirect it, this arrangement is particularly good at helping you pick up the front sight when you’re in bright sunshine.
Finally, many shooters are moving on to red dots or other optics, and XS Sights has an option for them too. XS has a new CNC-machined ACRO optic plate for the Taurus 66 Combat. It’s supposed to have 30 percent more thread engagement for a more solid mount, with a black nitride finish to keep corrosion at bay.
Asking prices for the new options: $68.99 for the Tritium standard dot, $60 for the fiber optic sights, and $74.99 for the ACRO mounting plate. All sights are backed by a limited lifetime warranty. More details at XSSights.com.
