XS Sights Releases Tritium Front Sight for Ruger SP101 & LCR
XS Sights has released a tritium Standard Dot front sight for the Ruger SP101 with fixed rear and the Ruger LCR in .38/.357, and the headline feature is that it comes pre-drilled. No mill work, no drill press, no gunsmith required. The pinhole is already there, and the kit ships with everything you need to do the swap yourself: the front sight, roll pin, color-appropriate threadlocker, and instructions. That removes the biggest friction point for most revolver owners who want to upgrade their sights but do not want to send the gun out for work.

The sight itself is a 0.140-inch tritium dot available in green, orange, or white. The green and orange versions use XS’s photoluminescent Glow Dot material, which absorbs ambient light and glows in low-light conditions independent of the tritium element. The tritium lamp handles complete darkness. The white option is reflective rather than photoluminescent, making it easy to pick up in bright conditions without the glowing element. All three are CNC machined from solid steel bar stock at XS’s in-house shop in Fort Worth.

The pre-drilled format is the practical differentiator here. Traditional pinned front sights require drilling, which puts most installations outside the reach of home gunsmiths without the right equipment. XS’s approach expands that install to anyone who can work carefully on a bench with basic tools. The SP101 and LCR are both popular carry revolvers, and neither has a great factory front sight for low-light use out of the box.

Are you running a factory front sight on your carry revolver, and is a DIY tritium upgrade something you would tackle yourself? Let us know in the comments below. We always appreciate the feedback.
